10 Ideas for Teachers to DECOMPRESS AND DESTRESS This Thanksgiving!

decompress and destress as a teacher taking time for yourself over the holiday ways to take time for yourself

Hey, Teachers!

It's about that time~THANKSGIVING BREAK! But this holiday can't be 100% about others once we're off the clock!

And here's an email I sent out last week to my teacher group:

Nobody wants to read a looooong Friday message heading out the door to break, complete with more gratitude quotes when we're about to collapse (although there are some excellent stories, essays, poems, and sayings about thankfulness...Drop me a line if you'd like a new list)... ๐Ÿ“

Inspiration for the Weekend this Friday is short and sweet!

It's in the name of TWO WORDS this holiday season:

When we receive an UNEXPECTED note of gratitude, we can't help but smile. It goes a long way. The time someone took to give us thanks can change the course of an afternoon for the better! ๐Ÿ’Œ

Friday's mini-challenge for a positive mindset clocking out today is to find someone who could really use your thanks. No time for a cute card? Send a quick email or find that person in the break room and give a verbal recognition.

Possibilities:

  1. A friend (easy)... ๐Ÿ’œ
  2. A staff member you see every day but keep forgetting to acknowledge for one meaningful thing... ๐Ÿค—
  3. The janitor ๐Ÿงน ๐Ÿ—‘
  4. Or a difficult colleague or administrator who's been getting at you (What could you say to switch up the tone and catch this person off guard in a kind way?) ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Flowers don't have to be bouquets. ๐Ÿ’

And of course, there's YOURSELF. When you get in your car, look back at the building for a couple seconds and remember how you're anything but dispensable.

You're a worthwhile educator. You're showing up for kids 180 days a year.

HAPPY HAPPY BREAK!! ๐Ÿฆƒ ๐Ÿ

4 WAYS TO START DECOMPRESSING AND DE-STRESSING Before Your Break Begins:

  1. BREATHE (it's okay to slow down)
  2. LOOK AT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL (it's in the eye of the beholder)
  3. TELL YOURSELF YOU'RE WORTH IT...YES, YOU REALLY ARE (cut out the negative talk)
  4. GIVE OR GET A HUG (let your loved ones know you care)

Find new and creative ways to TAKE TIME FOR YOU. โฐ ๐Ÿช You'll be "better for it" returning to work after next week! The "must have's" aren't just about how we're servicing our students.

If you don't take care of yourself, who will?
